First release

Everything we're building first.

This is the full list for our first release. It's in development, so details may change, but we won't quietly drop anything here. Every feature has a test it has to pass before it ships.

Switching, done for you

The core of Mailtommy. Bring everything over, not just a contact list.

Connect and import
Connect your current account by signing in, and import your audiences through its API. Built for lists up to 100,000 contacts, with progress shown and an email when it's done.
Every status, exactly as it was
Subscribed, unsubscribed, bounced and non-subscribed contacts keep their status. Every unsubscribed and bounced contact lands on your suppression list and can never be emailed.
Tags, fields and groups
Tags, custom fields and groups come across. A mapping screen lets you review each one, and anything unmatched can become a new custom field.
Templates and past campaigns
Your email templates and past campaign content are imported. Each template opens in our editor or as editable HTML, and your campaign archive stays viewable.
Your past results become your baseline
Opens, clicks and unsubscribes from past campaigns are imported, so your dashboard starts with your own six-month averages.
A plain migration report
A clear list of what moved, what didn't (automations, for example) and your next steps. No surprises after you switch.
CSV import from any tool
Coming from somewhere else? Upload a CSV. 100,000 rows in under 15 minutes, with the subscription status column respected.
Re-sync before you cut over
Keep sending from your old platform while you get set up, and pull in the latest changes right up to the day you switch.

Domain setup and inbox delivery

Mailbox providers now require proper authentication. We set it up with you before you send.

Guided domain authentication
SPF, DKIM and DMARC records to copy and paste, with a live check that turns green for each record. Sending from an unverified domain is blocked.
Pre-send health check
Flags missing authentication, stale contacts with no opens in 12 months, role addresses like info@ and addresses that aren't valid.
Warm-up plan for switched lists
Your first sends go to your most engaged contacts first, on a suggested two-week schedule, so mailbox providers get to know you.
A deliverability panel in plain language
Authentication, bounce rate and complaint rate shown green, amber or red, each with one line of advice.

Contacts

Simple, fast and yours.

Searchable contact list
Search, tags and custom fields. Results in under two seconds, even at 100,000 contacts.
Simple segments
Build segments by tag, field, signup date or engagement, and see the count before you send.
No duplicates, one suppression list
The same email is never stored twice, and suppressed contacts are left out of every send automatically.
Export everything, any time
One-click CSV of all your contacts and data. No lock-in.

Editor and templates

Good-looking emails without a designer.

Drag-and-drop editor
Text, images, buttons, dividers, social links and columns. Checked to render correctly in Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail and on phones.
Plain-letter mode
Sometimes a simple letter works best. It's one click from the template picker.
About 25 starter templates
Newsletters, events, announcements and appeals. Mobile-friendly, with your brand colors and logo applied automatically.
Preview, test send and spam check
Warns about spammy wording, missing image descriptions, heavy images and broken links before you hit send.

Sending

Send when it suits your readers.

Now, later or in their time zone
Send now, schedule a time, or deliver at the same local time for each recipient. Scheduled sends go out within five minutes of the target.
One-click unsubscribe on every email
Every marketing email carries a one-click unsubscribe and a footer link. Unsubscribes take effect immediately.
Subject-line A/B test
Try two subject lines. The winner, by opens or clicks, goes to everyone else automatically.

Signup forms

Grow your list the right way.

Embedded, popup and hosted forms
Copy-paste a snippet into your website, or share a hosted signup page at mailtommy.com/your-org.
Double opt-in and bot protection
Double opt-in is on by default, and bot signups are blocked before they reach your list.

Welcome sequence

Say hello automatically, without a flowchart.

One simple sequence per list
Up to five emails with day delays, started by a signup or a tag. You edit it as a list of emails, not a diagram.

Reports

The numbers that matter, compared with what you're used to.

Per-campaign results
Delivered, opens, clicks, unsubscribes, bounces and complaints, visible within 15 minutes. Opens inflated by Apple's privacy feature are flagged.
Compared with your old averages
For example: “Your open rate is within 4% of your old average.” Proof, campaign by campaign, that switching didn't cost you anything.

Billing and your account

Pricing you can predict.

Pay only for subscribed contacts
Unsubscribed, bounced and duplicate contacts are free. A usage meter is always visible, and your invoice matches it exactly.
No surprise upgrades
No automatic tier jumps mid-month. We notify you before any plan change, and email you seven days before any price change.
Team members and nonprofit discount
Up to three team members on paid plans. Nonprofits get a discount, verified with a simple document upload.

Safe sign-up and sender screening

Why we check every sender, and why that protects you.

Secure sign-in
Sign up with email and password or Google, with two-factor sign-in through an authenticator app.
A short sender questionnaire
Before your first send we ask what kind of organization you are, your website, and how your contacts were collected.
Risk review for new accounts
Higher-risk new accounts are reviewed by a person before they can send. Spammers don't get to share the road with you.
Sending limits that lift with good results
New accounts start with a daily cap for the first week. It lifts automatically while bounces and complaints stay low.

The standards underneath

One careless sender can hurt everyone's delivery on a shared platform. So these rules rank above speed and new features.

Your reputation is yours alone

Every organization sends with its own isolated sending identity. If another sender misbehaves, they get paused, and your mail keeps flowing.

Strict limits, for everyone

We aim to keep bounces under 2% and complaints under 0.1% across the platform. Any sender over 5% bounces or 0.3% complaints on a send is paused automatically.

Mailbox-provider rules built in

SPF, DKIM and DMARC alignment on every domain, plus one-click unsubscribe, as Gmail, Yahoo and Microsoft now require of bulk senders.

Separate domains for separate jobs

Our website, shared sending, click tracking and bounce handling each use their own domain, so one problem can't spread to the rest.

Privacy law, respected

CAN-SPAM, CASL and GDPR: a consent record for every contact, a data processing agreement, a published sub-processor list, and deletion that actually deletes.

Security by default

Encryption in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256), two-factor sign-in, role-based access and an audit log of sign-ins, exports and sends.

Reliable, and your history kept

A 99.9% availability target, scheduled sends that are queued and retried rather than lost, 25 months of campaign history and daily backups.

Accessible for everyone

The app is built to WCAG 2.1 AA, and templates produce accessible emails: image descriptions, good contrast and real text instead of pictures of text.
